Overview
Virtuous Oscar’s Veterinary is a custom magnet set created for Character Creations, as a fantastical and creative twist on an alternative career path. The four-piece set features a stylized self-portrait as a vet, holding a black and white cat, with themed accessories: medicine bottle, treats, and pet carrier. Set against the backdrop of a vet’s office, the design merges nostalgia and personal storytelling through bold illustration and playful visual elements.
Objective
The goal of this project was to develop myself as a Character Creations character, thinking of an alternate career I wanted as a kid that being a veterinarian. The concept allowed for a fun, introspective examination of my childhood dream while emphasizing character development, visual narrative, and branding. The final product is a portfolio piece that conveys personality, humor, and illustrative skill.
Approach
Rather than aiming for realism or education, the direction was to embrace a fantastical, character-based aesthetic that imagines what my life would be like if I’d pursued veterinary medicine instead of graphic design. The stylized, exaggerated, sticker-like format and bold visuals evoke the spirit of collectible toy packaging. The personal details—the cat sidekick and themed accessories—lend credibility to the concept, while the playful art direction invites viewers to explore the character’s backstory.
